Work benches were a good starting point for observing the working environment of the woodcarvers of the Val Gardena. In their workshops I discovered some very old tables with a very long history behind them, that had been handed down over many generations.The installation is based on three different working environments: one linked with the colonial history of South Africa, one about the formation of the Dolomites, and the final one about the mountain landscape, superimposed here over the New York skyline.
