Kobylarz focuses his latest works on the mathematical concepts of the Fibonacci Sequence, the “φ” (phi) numeral, fractal geometry and the golden ratio and explores the ways in which they appear in natural constructions: from DNA code, through human proportions, the height of plants, the shape of a snowflakes, hurricanes, and the shape of galaxies. Like a vicious master of mimicry and camouflage, Kobylarz smuggles his “ideal trees” into the natural fabric of Ortisei’s pedestrian zone’s green islands. Meticulously crafted out of wood, according to the precise numbers of a mathematical formula, the trees are generic models on a futuristic, post-ecological catwalk of an engineered nature. Kobylarz’s world is one of prototypes, a nostalgic, almost Borgesian vision, characterized by the “exactitude of science”, an obsession to prove and deliver an evidence.
