Biennale Gherdëina 10 – (Future) Paradise Gardens concludes with a full day of events, beginning at 11:00 with a roundtable bringing together landscape architect and Biennale artist Bas Smets, author Vartan Karapetian, and President of Human Foundation Giovanna Melandri. Their conversation will offer an opportunity to explore in greater depth the themes at the heart of Smets’ research and of Degrees of Elevation, the installation he presented at Biennale Gherdëina together with art director Eliane Le Roux. First developed for Pilat, the project reflects on climate change and its impact on Alpine landscapes. The roundtable will also mark the European premiere of The English Park, An Ecology of Memory in Yerevan, published by Armenian Arts Council Editions, with the author Vartan Karapetian in attendance. The publication explores the history and cultural heritage of Yerevan’s English Park and features contributions by Norbert Peeters, Aram Pachyan, and Marine Haroyan. The book is published on the occasion of the United Nations Biodiversity Conference, the world’s leading summit dedicated to biodiversity, which will take place in Yerevan from 19 to 30 October 2026.

At 15:00, all visitors are invited to join the final free guided tour at the Biennale’s locations in Ortisei. The tour will depart from the Info Point at Sala Trenker and last approximately 90 minutes.
The day will conclude between 17:00 and 19:00 with a performative act of sharing and continuity at the (Future) Paradise Gardens installation in Piazza Stetteneck, Ortisei. Landscape architect Eva-Maria Schgaguler will invite members of the public to participate in the distribution and adoption of the plants that make up the garden, in exchange for a small donation supporting the charitable activities of Vinzenzgemeinschaft within the local community. The gesture transforms the temporary installation into an ongoing network of care, allowing the plants — and the ideas embodied by the garden — to continue beyond the Biennale.
All activities on the Finissage day are free of charge. No registration is required.
