"Ape Piaggio Luxury" - The two "Ape Piaggio Luxury" vehicles by Wilma Kammerer, mounted one above the other, are lined inside with cardinal red brocade on which sit wooden figures simulating the vehicle's drivers. By presenting the "luxury version" of this humble vehicle, the artist exaggerates the habit of souping up the engine and altering the exhaust until the result is this mechanical coupling that has nothing in common with the original vehicle. The Ape Piaggio has doubled in size in its zeal to conform to the stereotype of an ever more functional and significant vehicle.Wilma's work presents itself as a factory of dreams and everyday gestures, cultivating the pleasure of following the work through its inventive steps and the individual intellectual and craft phases. Using the technique of assembly and accumulation, Wilma's sculpture gives new aesthetic value and inner life to industrial found objects. In this case, the artist entrusts herself to the sculptural presence of the objet trouvé to plumb the space and time of daily life through their geometric profiles and stylistic correspondences, transforming sculpture into a moment of imagination and invention at the service of its beneficiaries. Her environmental-level works, which use totemic forms from everyday life to spread across cities and landscapes, combine the characteristics of dynamism and power, irony and sensitivity.
